Dear Sir/Madam,

Subject: Increasing Indian Exports through FTAs, TPPs and RCEP etc - Study sponsored by Pharmexcil for pharmaceuticals - Inputs - requested

As our members are aware, several countries are entering into various trade agreements between themselves for promotion of trade between the agreed countries. Such agreements involve several concessions allowed by individual countries towards imports and exports of various commodities depending upon the strength of individual country. Some of such negotiations trade agreements concluded by India include:

1)    India-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (IAFTA) - partner countries India and Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

2)    India-Malaysia Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (IMCECA) - partner countries India and Malaysia.

3)    India-Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IKCEPA) - partner countries India and Korea.

4)    India-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IJCEPA) - partner countries India and Japan.

India is currently to counter the challenges forced by Trans- Pacific Partnership Agreements (TPP). India is rigorously negotiating for finalization of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) with 10 countries of ASIAN, plus Australia, China, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand. With a view to support the serious efforts of Ministry of Commerce for finalizing effective agreements, Pharmexcil has sponsored a study by availing the services of a reputed agency. Unless our members provide exact data and justified reasons for promotion of export of our pharmaceuticals, it would not be possible to derive best of agreements.

With a view to obtain appropriate data for giving proper inputs to Ministry, a questionnaire has been developed by our agency and the same is enclosed. We request all members to take a note of this important study sponsored by Pharmexcil and provide necessary information within 7 (Seven) days in the given format. The same may be submitted to romumbai@pharmexcil.com with a copy marked to dg@pharmexcil.com and ed@pharmexcil.com

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

Dr. P. V. Appaji

Director General
