As our members aware, Department of Commerce had earlier rejected some applications submitted by Merchant Exporters, for 50% reimbursement of product registration charges paid to the FDA authorities. The department has informed that Merchant Exporters are not eligible for reimbursement. Accordingly, Pharmexcil has returned some applications to the applicants. Simultaneously, our Council has also taken up the issue with Department of Commerce and explained the role of Merchant Exporters, who register products in their own names and with their own expenses. After continued persuasion and discussions at the highest level, the Department has agreed to consider the applications from Merchant Exporters, subject to the following conditions:
- The application would be considered only for those products/brands which are owned by Merchant Exporters.
- The products are registered in their name with actual payment of registration fees by them.
- Other conditions under MDA scheme are to be fulfilled.
The department has also informed that the products registered by payment of fees through local agents will also be eligible for reimbursement.
In view of the above, we request all members, including those whose applications were returned by the Council, to submit fresh proposals for products registered during 2009-10, 2010-11 and current year, for examination and recommendation to the Ministry. |
