Dear Sir/Madam,
Subject: Exercise by DGFT on “Requirements for Export/Import Documentation”.
We would like to inform our member companies that Council has received a communication from the Office of DGFT stating that the World Bank has released a report on “Doing Business Report 2014” under which there is a section on “Trading across Border Section” detailing the requirements of the documents and their timeframe for obtaining them.
With this report as base, Department is doing an exercise to understand various documentation requirements and the time taken for completion/obtaining of such mandatory documents by the exporter, while performing these export and import processes. It also aims at understanding the transactions cost involved and the problems faced by the industry.
A questionnaire on time, cost and documentary requirement as received from DGFT for export / import is attached, covering the following:-
1.Questions on Exports:-
• Export documents
• Inland transport and handling
• Custom clearance and inspection
• Port and terminal handling
• Questions on letter of credit
2. Questions on imports:-
• Import documents
• Port and terminal handling
• Custom clearance and inspections
• Inland transportation and handling.
We request members to take advantage of this opportunity and furnish the details on the processing time for each document and also provide the inputs on problems/hurdles, if any as per the attached questionnaire.
Members are requested to send the duly filled in questionnaireby 27th September 2014 to info@pharmexcil.com for onward submission of the details to the Department.
