All the Members of Council

Dear Sir/Madam,

Subject: Hon'ble PM's visit to Mongolia during May 2015: Opportunity for Supplying Pharmaceuticals to Mongolia

We would like our member companies that Council received a communication from Indian Embassy at Mongolia and Ministry of External Affairs and DoC, stating that Mongolia is interested in sourcing pharmaceutical products from India on long term basis.

Members may be kindly aware, Hon'ble Prime Minister is visiting China, Mongolia and South Korea during the month of May 2015 and as part of this high level Delegation, Department of Commerce and our Embassy in Mongolia is making special efforts to promote Indian pharmaceuticals and also working on the possibilities of high level Pharma delegation to Mongolia.

India's export of Pharmaceuticals to Mongolia during the year 2013-14 is to the tune of USD 2.20 mn( Rs.13 Crores) and we understand 15% of its pharmaceutical requirement is met through imports from India. However, such imports are happening indirectly, entering Mongolia through Russia and South Korea.

A list of buyers interested to source medicines from India along with the priority products (ten) interested is also enclosed for your information as received from our Embassy in Mongolia. We understand that efforts are in place by the Mongolian Government for fast track registration of these priority products.

Further, we have been informed that most of the imports into Mongolia are being facilitated by the Pharmaceutical Importers Association (PIA) of Mongolia. Council is also proposing to sign a MoU with PIA for further cooperation on trade and exchange of information on regular basis.

Members are requested to send their reply on the supply capabilities of the listed products and prices to Mrs. Uranchimeg, Head, Pharmaceutical Division, Ministry of Health and Sport at email: uranchimeg_m@moh.gov.mn with a copy to dgdesk@pharmexcil.com.

Looking into the response from the members, Council would also like to propose a delegation visit to Mongolia in the coming months accordingly.

With regards,

Dr.P.V.Appaji
Director General
